Simon Smith

Simon began his professional goalkeeping career with Newcastle United in 1978, spending four years there before moving on to Gateshead F.C, where he played 501 games over a ten year period.Simon went back to Newcastle United in 1993 as Academy Goalkeeping Coach. In the summer of 1999, Simon became First Team Goalkeeping Coach working under Ruud Gullit and Sir Bobby Robson for six seasons,

Paul Winsper

Paul Winsper graduated with BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science in 1996. He was Head of Strength, Conditioning and Sport Science at Newcastle United Football Club between 1997-2006, covering 10 seasons. During this time he was part of several Champions league, UEFA Cup and top 5 finishes. Prior to that he worked with Durham County Cricket Club supporting their first team and academy.


Terry Mitchell

Terry Mitchell was appointed Assistant Manager and First Team Coach  at Gateshead Football Club at the beginning of the 2010-2011 season. Previously he was the  Director of Youth Development at Hartlepool United for the  4 years.

Neil Winskill

Neil's football career started as an apprentice footballer at Newcastle United where he stayed from 1993-1996. It was whilst at Newcastle he first took an interest in football coaching and started his coaching awards.


Liam Bramley

Liam`s football career started as an apprentice footballer at Rotherham United. He them went to Northumbria University where he studied Sports Science graduating in 2007 with a BSc (Hons).Whilst at University he played a key role in the development of the University Football Programme not only playing for Team Northumbria in the Northern league but also coaching the Team Northumbria Womens team.

Dave Cleary

Dave`s playing Career started at Newcastle united where he was an apprentice from 1988 – 1990 from there he moved on to play in the Northern League with Tow Law, Blue Star and Whickham FC. He gained his first coaching award in 1990 and completed his “A” Licence in 2000.


Ben Dawson

Ben is the Football Development Officer at Newcastle United Foundation and coaches at their Academy. He started his playing carreer in the USA when he  gained a football scholarship to Pennsylvania University where he achieved a degree in Sports Management., He went on to represent Great Britain in the World Student Games.


Mark Woodhall

Mark began his coaching career with the Newcastle Football Development scheme aged 15. He then went to Durham University graduating with a BA in Sport in the Community. He then worked with the Northumberland Football Partnership until securing a full time post at Newcastle College. He successfully completed his A licence in 2010.


Ken Richardson

Ken`s Coaching career started at the legendary Wallsend Boys Club where he coached Under 10s to Under 14s. Some notable players came under Ken`s tutelage including Michael Carrick and Mark Maley. After 10 years Ken moved into senior coaching firstly with Newcastle Blue Star and then the Northumberland County Under 19 Team.
